REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS

The Ballard Alliance and the Ballard Public Art Committee are working together to incorporate more public art to the streets of Ballard through the Community Mural Project. By transforming blank walls into colorful artistic landscapes, we can create a more interesting pedestrian experience, promote community identity, and deter graffiti. We are looking for an artist who will create a 5’3” high by 60’ long maritime industrial-inspired mural that is representative of the Ballard community.

In partnership with Western Towboat, the Ballard Alliance and Ballard Public Art Community are dedicated to bringing a maritime industrial inspired mural to the community.

The goal of this project is to foster community in a growing neighborhood, bringing residents, businesses, and visitors together through art. This mural will be representative of the community of Ballard and will be located on a building space TBD. This project is being funded by Western Towboat, a long-time family-owned tug boat company who is omnipresent throughout the waterways in and around Ballard. This unique partnership should be considered in the final design of the mural. Aspects to consider incorporating into the mural include the iconic blue and yellow Western Towboats of Ballard, and the industrial nature and maritime history of Ballard.
